Gad & Hyejing — A Proposal Story in Bilbao
Gad reached out to me from New York with an exciting idea: he and Hyejing were coming to Bilbao, and he wanted to surprise her with a proposal that felt natural, thoughtful, and true to their story.
We planned everything together — the location, the timing, and the small details — so the moment would unfold in an easy and relaxed way.
Spoiler alert: Gad’s nerves in the days before almost gave it away. Hyejing sensed that something special was coming, but that only made the moment more emotional and unforgettable!
After the proposal, we walked through the streets of Bilbao, enjoying the city and capturing real, spontaneous moments. The joy on their faces needed no direction — it was honest and full of life, exactly what documentary photography is about.
The second part of the session took place at The Artist Hotel, a beautiful art hotel in the heart of Bilbao. We photographed in a rooftop suite with elegant interiors and an artwork by Javier Mariscal.
Art is an important part of Gad and Hyejing’s lives, and this space felt like a perfect match for them.
Bilbao is a city deeply connected to contemporary art and creativity, with inspiring architecture and modern, conceptual spaces like The Artist. It felt like the ideal place for their story to unfold.
